Course overview
Course description
A fantasy palace fit for a king. This extraordinary building, somewhere between folly and architectural toy will be the subject of a talk which will also consider the extraordinary man who had it built, the Prince Regent.
Possibly one of the most over the top buildings ever built in England, the Royal Pavilion was built in three stages as the seaside retreat of the Prince Regent (later George IV). An extravagant homage to the fashions for orientalism of the day but with all mon cons for Prinny’s parties it is a marmite place to be. Some will love it; some will hate it but it will make an impression on you.building, both inside and out!
