Throughout the day, we will dissect "The Third Man" by viewing the film in sections, pausing to analyse its relationship with Greene's text. In addition to exploring the aesthetic aspects, we'll probe into the complexities of literary adaptation for the screen. By teasing out themes of espionage and the emerging Cold War, we'll unravel the intricate layers of intrigue and moral ambiguity present in both the text and the film. Particularly, we'll consider the parallels between the search for a "Third Spy" in the narrative and real-life events such as the Burgess and Maclean affair.
